Yes, Punch and Judy is an outside show. It needs to be sited where the booth can be fastened down as the wind can be a problem. The organiser MUST take this into consideration when planning the event.
No, we have a portable battery pack which runs our pa system.
Yes, but it is not very powerful. Organisers should avoid siting the show near to the main stage, where bands are playing or near speakers from the main event public address system as we would not be able to compete with this.
No. Mr Punch does use a slapstick but his actions are funny. The show represents a puppet version of good old fashioned slapstick comedy.
It depends on how big the event is. Our set up is quite large and the puppets are high up so that it can be enjoyed by a large audience. Leave at least 2m in front of the show and then allocate a reasonable area for people to gather round to watch. Try not to block walk ways.
Yes, Punch and Judy can be performed on the beach in good weather and providing permission has been obtained from the local authorities and access is ok etc.
Yes, it is a traditional show which means that there are all of the usual characters including Punch, Judy, the baby, the policeman, the crocodile and the sausages. The voice of Mr Punch is produced using a "swazzle" ( an essential part of a traditional show ). Punch also uses a slapstick ( also essential ).
Yes, I have performed my Punch and Judy show at student events, 30th, 40th, 60th and 80th birthday parties, I've even done it at a "Rave" once too. The adult show can quite naughty providing there are no children present. That said, most adults enjoy my standard show without any adult content.
Most shows are twenty to thirty minutes duration but this can vary. At some events the event manager may ask for a series of shorter fifteen minute shows or in some cases the show could run for up to forty five minutes if required. The show can be changed to suit the event.
No. The show can be varied by changing some of the characters. It always includes Punch, Judy and The Baby but others can be added or removed to and some of the routines can be swopped too.
